I won a cool competition on the furness poker forum the other day, it was a competition in which you have to guess what the Bank Roll that furness poker have put into a vault, very simple and fun. If you where correct you got that amount that was in the vault put into your account and also got a free copy of Rounders and a pack of celebpoker playing cards.
it was into the third week that it had been running and it had rolled over the previous 2 weeks, I hadnt put any guesses in the previous 2 weeks, so i though it might aswel have a go for some free money. so i put my 3 quesses in and left it at that, few days later i recieved a post congratulating me of my win, i had won 21.25 Euros a copy of rounders and a pack of CelebPoker cards :D Not bad for a free comp!

North West Student Championships
On the 2nd of May 2009 i attended the North West Student Chapionships at Manchester 235 in of course Manchester. After Registration and had our seats allocated i sat down with my ipod in my ears and didnt say a word. After a few hands in which i sat back and didnt get involved too much, i attempted to try and figure out what type of players i was playing against. Firstly the guy who offered to deal was obviously a good player, he knew his pot odds, outs and percentages etc. On the other hand i began to realise the standard of poker at the rest of the table was considerably low, especially the player directly opposite me. I later learned that he had never played live and that he only plays on FaceBook poker. This gave me great confidence at this table as i was sure that it was only me and the dealer that was experianced and at a reasonable poker level. Now to the hand that possibly swung my hole tournament.
i was in a middle position and play was passed around to me, i held pocket 6's. Noq normaly i either get in cheap or get out of they was with middle pairs but i felt that i could win the pot there and then, so i put a X3 raise, play was folded around to this Donk who plays on fb poker, he calls, big blind and small blind also fold.
Flop Comes QQ9....I put a Probing bet out to see where i stand with this idiot. (away from the point previous to this tournament i had watched Mike Caro's Poker Tells DVD) bareing this in mind i watched him and looked for tells when i put the bet out. he looked back at his hand and immidiatly looked away. now this set my alarm bells off, he immidiatly pushed 5k into the pot after which he looked away again.
At this point i was going through all the possibilities-
1-He has either called my X3 bet preflop with AQ, QK QJ, Q10 (being inexperianced this may have happened).
2-he had pocket 9's and had hit a full house.
3-he has a pocket pair which is more than likely higher than my low / medium pocket pair.
after sat thinking about it for a few mins i came to my conclusion that i am probably miles behind, thus i fold. This Cocky larger than life FISH turned over A 4 os! in which i became furious, i was flabbergasterd that this very inexperianced poor player had the balls to do that, if it was a different situation and i was playing against decent players their thinking may have put such a small bet out to draw you in but because this guy was playing a 2D game he was fearless and would become a callingstation when he held ace rags he fished to the river.
After laying down this 7k+ pot i did go on a slight TILT and decided the best thing is to stand up go and have a fag and something to eat..this did work and i was clear minded when i sat back down.
all in all I HATE PLAYING AGAINST IDIOT PLAYERS :D
